The Mind-Boggler Blogger

“BLOGGING”… --- When I first heard this, (in a TV commercial) I began to be inquisitive of what computer or rather, “blogging” is. Yeah right! I’m such a primitive when it comes to these things before and as illiterateI enjoy my self-exploration and found myself doing this blog.

Music, Arts, and Culture… These three make a stand in our status quo and made an individual to have his self identity and belongingness. But these notions got a baffling frame as they take place in our society. Just like in Music. We assume that it’s just a kind of genre, and yet, gives a greater meaning to some and even make it as part of their life nor serves as a newborn culture. In Arts, we presume that planking is just of one’s absurdity but rarely, have the greatest imagery of courage and strength of those casualties in the world history. And lastly, the state of Destitution that gives appalling image in our country but confers eagerness to all despite his race, gender and age. It’s just a kind of commonality indeed. Not new. Not even a hot topic to read on. But what make us decide to take it, is the essence of the stories to be served…the formation of common sense into a public consciousness. (Fine, Weseen and Wong, 2003).

In doing this kind of bustle, we’ve learned a lot of things in life. Not just unfolding the untold, or being aware of technicalities in blogging, but having the experiences in common but deepest meaning of life. Though we’ve encountered difficulties upon grounding, we or rather I, still feel the gratitude of taking this subject. I had a lot of remarkable experiences, such as taking the role of others; view the reality in just a minute and most importantly, to understand things that I usually refuse to think of. I began to appreciate even the smallest detail I have, to dig up much deeper on the usual, and to make possible the impossible. And what matter most, is to be not just a researcher or an expert on our field, but a learner of our own life. And for me, this is the real essence of bloggingNot just spilling of words but to filled it with thoughts and served it to ponder.

Define

Working with my busy schedules, deadline of paper works and other requirements needed in school, conceptualizing blog content is a hard time for me. Every entry that we pass have different theme consisting the lay-out, features and effects that might contribute to make the blog interesting and catchy to the followers.
I am not good in technical aspects of doing blog that why, one of our group mate’s acts as a leader in that matter. At first, the blog became quite easy for me because all I need to do is to pass the article assigned to me. Later on, when I saw that there are people commenting and giving their opinion on how ways to improve our blog, a little bit of pressure pushes me to do a great job and motivate my skills on my article. I also learned to create a blog.
I always came at home late because of the videos, interviews and photos we need to finish. Some of my group mates stay on our house to take the overnight and able to work hard for the blog. We go to different setting to captured the environment that will complement to our article. Opportunity to help to other people and experiencing the work we had is amazing lessons for me and I truly appreciate it.
Blog is a part of my life that gives great experience working with my group mates. And it’s worth it because the product still exists and it would be a memory for me.
The significant values of the Blog creates venue for me to share my knowledge to others, the point of interaction and difference!

“MAC, what are you in me?” My perception on Music, Arts and Culture

To start off, this semester has been a blast, though blinding quick because it seemed like yesterday we were just starting on this yet nonetheless, every experience is worth it. From discovering different people on their music, to different cultures and using our sense of sight on arts of different kinds. If you’d wonder, why are we doing this? Are we blogging for grade? Well, probably. Are we blogging for fame? Though falling short of blog followers, we try to make our voices heard through words. What really matters is what’s really in us. Something that we can’t just hide thus being put into blog form. Going back to the question, what is MAC in me? What do Music, Arts and Culture have to do with my life? I’ll start off with Culture.

Culture is defined as the manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively. Come to think of it, Music and Arts can have a big probability on being part of this. Waking into consciousness into life, we can actually discover that we’re being part of a culture, though we don’t have the knowledge to perceive such thing happening. Picture yourself as a three-year old, you’re being dropped off to a Day Care Center and not too far, you’ll be in a playpen of children your age. From then on, cultures are born. Okay, so maybe not a daycare, but how about the time when your mother lets you lose outside to play with other kids. From then on, starts a culture. As you grow and mature, every culture will take part in your life one way or another, love it or loathe it. One thing for sure, the cultures that took part in me have molded me into what I am and probably who I am not that others try to make me become. Having this free will to choose who you want to be is a great opportunity in life, especially when that culture you join into involves loving your God. It’s probably the culture I’d never depart on.

An art is defined as produced by skill and imagination. This definition particularly should focus on imagination. Yes, skill is obtained by the best ones. The ones that have their paintings hang on museums but you cannot deny the fact that having imagination alone can be considered art. Thus without imagination, you cannot make or do anything. You’ll be stuck staring at your paper or easel board waiting for one hour with flies swarming around you. You have imagination and it can bring you to greater heights of creativity. It may look ugly to other people, but you’ll probably be the only person to appreciate your own make. Art has been a big part of my life. Since I was a toddler, one of the most probably things I’m holding on to be either a ball-point pen or a pencil. My imagination lets me draw and put into paper things I’m thinking of and yes, to this very day I still do it. Not too much lately but I can actually make a cartoon/caricature drawing of you. But other than that, without art, I’d be very boring right now. You’d picture me as a vast desert of full desertion.
Music is defined as the art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. This, of the three, has got to be my favorite. There can never be a day without a melody whether whistling my favorite tune or maybe jamming out with an electric guitar together with a full band. It’s probably the big part of me that can never be removed. This is how I express myself, and since I’ve mentioned earlier how much I love my God, this is the best expression I can make. Ever since I was a kid, I was exposed to the radio and voices of my loved-ones singing so it’s not far off I can recognize sound. Singing was the first thing I’ve ever done in relation. Without my voice, I would’ve never been part of my aunt’s Broadway production, part of a choir or even part of a band. It’s the simplest thing man can do to make music. Turning 9, I turned my eye to Drums which made me practice and learn basic lessons, though it didn’t last in the end and I may have not been the greatest drummers, you give me a stick and a set then it’s settled. The guitar has been the best thing that has happened to me. Its portability and great sound helped me become what I am best today, a guitarist. I have become recognized because of this and I thank it. That’s why I glorify my God with everything I do with this instrument. Whatever I play comes from the heart and that’s what God puts in mine. Music has made me into a person I never thought I was, that is why among the three, it stands out and probably the reason why M goes first in MAC.

Simply put, this maybe the end of the semester but one thing’s for sure, Music, Arts and Culture lives on forever. It’s something to be passed on to generations until the end.

Piqued Skills

Indubitably, learning and discovering are part of our daily lives. Learning something new or different might be a challenge to us, pooling our efforts to wrap things up flawlessly and perfectly as much as possible. I’m not saying that things must be done without imperfections, because there’s a tendency of trial and error while doing those things. Just like working on a blog and maintaining a blogsite. Indeed, I’ve got used to writing since I was into writing way back to high school days but writing an article for blog is on the next level. It involves the publicity of your works, open to scrutinizing and critiquing of diverse and heterogeneous people from different cultures all over the globe. It worries me since I’m a private person. My stories, journals, short stories and other works are kept in my cabinet. I don’t want anybody else to scour for them. Moreover, writing for a blog includes step-by-step procedures that would pique your skills in intellectual, emotional, physical and social aspects. Let me discuss these points.
The most arduous part of writing is identifying the topic or the overall concept of the blog. There were many things our group considered including the interests of each members of the group, the significance of the topic, how recent the topic is, and the sufficiency of resources for it. It’s exhausting since we had incongruence of views and opinions. Authoritativeness existed among us yet submissiveness won the game. Finally, we had come up to our overall theme – Music, Arts and Culture. We had chosen it since it’s a “safe “topic, almost encompassing our interests. Who will not appreciate music, arts and culture anyway? I, not so creative, do have a passion in music so I had no problem about the topic.
The next step is immersion. Indeed, in order for you to understand the topic, experience is a must. Gathering data and information from the primary and secondary sources caused affliction to us apart from the money and energy we spent for it. However, those efforts were worth it because it’s fun and unforgettable experience, bonding with my friends and dealing with other people with different personalities.
Writing. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? However, I myself found it too critical and analytical. Why is it so? The novelty lead and the conclusion must be “big bang.” Meaning, it should be interesting enough to attract readers to read the article from the first to last. You should also know how to organize your ideas, articulating the purpose and style with the proper use of transitional devices, words and right grammar. The entire article must have unity, coherence and emphasis. Without these characteristics, the work’s just a CRAP! As I wrote my articles for various entries, I found myself despondent, but I viewed it as training – training for my future at the workplace.
At last, posting the articles for the blogsite was not that difficult. Our group’s cooperation was truly visible. The articles of each member must be sent to my e-mail address for editing. Photos, videos and other files were included. I was responsible for grammar, proper usage of words and other concerns in writing. My group mate was responsible for layout designing and the like. Of course, misunderstandings among us were inevitable especially in terms of the schedule of the submission and posting of the articles. I almost slept late at night, wrapping up those editing activities. But when I worked on it, I had become bitter, knowing that my group mates were asleep during that time. I shifted my mind on other things to get off this on my mind.
To sum it up, working on various things requires skills not only intellectually, but also emotionally as well. Meaning, EQ is also important apart from IQ. You are dealing with other people which are unique and have different personalities, beliefs and values.
